Susan Aglukark is a radiant performer, songwriter, author and humanitarian who reached just about every Canadian alive in the mid 1990s with her hit song of unity, O’Siem. For a while it was performed by middle-school students across the country. The National Arts Centre sums up her quantifiable career outcomes as “The first Inuk artist to win a JUNO, Susan has won three, as well as a Governor General’s Performing Arts Award for lifetime artistic achievement. She is an officer of the Order of Canada, [and] holds several Honorary Doctorate degrees.
No doubt her performance on Sunday afternoon will bring us together once again!
