Artistic Director – Cowichan Folk Guild

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Hire and book performers for Coffee Houses, concerts and the Islands Folk Festival

  • Negotiate contracts with performers within the financial guidelines of (CFG) Cowichan Folk Guild

  • Work with marketing, office administrator and CFG members to produce and ensure distribution of posters, programs, and brochures

  • Play an active role in grant applications

  • Conduct business in a fiscally responsible manner

  • Work independently and as part of a team

  • Maintain accurate, thorough Artist database

  • Represent the CFG in a respectful manner at all times

  • Provide prompt monthly progress reports to CFG Board of Directors

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Self-motivated

  • Excellent facilitation, organization & communication skills

  • Proficient in computer applications, research skills, and use of a database

  • Ability to meet deadlines and handle high pressure environments

  • Understanding of technical and staging requirements

  • Ideal candidate would live in the Cowichan Valley

  • Marketing, media knowledge and familiarity with music industry an asset
